Awards & Recognition

  • A 12-month fellowship awarded by the University of California, Davis to doctoral students who demonstrate strong potential for university teaching and research. Awardees demonstrate the potential to contribute to higher education through the understanding of the barriers facing women, domestic minorities, students with disabilities, and members of other groups underrepresented in higher education careers, as evidenced by life experiences and educational background.

  • The Ruth B. Mandel Dissertation Research Awards were established in honor of the founding director for the Center for American Women in Politics, Ruth B. Mandel. The Mandel Awards support dissertation research on women, gender, and U.S. politics and are $2,000 each in value.

  • Summer research awards for historically underrepresented graduate students of color at UC Davis. Awards are funded by the Student Recruitment & Retention Center (SRRC)'s Graduate Academic Achievement & Advocacy Program.

  • Awarded by the UC Davis Department of Political Science to graduate students who have demonstrated excellence in graduate student instruction.

  • The Carrie Chapman Catt Prize for Research on Women and Politics is an annual competition designed to encourage and reward scholars embarking on significant research in gender and politics, including civic education and engagement and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

  • The Political Science Diversity Award supports focused summer research and study by a doctoral candidate who is a first-generation college student, who comes from a disadvantaged socio-economic background, or who, through life experiences or educational background, demonstrates an ability to contribute to a diverse educational environment.

  • Awarded by the UC Davis Department of Political Science. In collaboration with Walter Stone and Benjamin Highton.

  • The UC Davis Provost’s First Year Fellowships in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is awarded to highly qualified doctoral and master of fine arts students in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
