I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Cal Poly Pomona, where I teach American government, political research methods, and women and politics.
My research examines how race and gender shape political behavior and the evaluation of political candidates, with particular attention to the stereotypes Black women face in electoral politics. I am especially interested in how voters evaluate candidates, how candidates respond to gendered and racialized expectations, and how political representation operates within American political institutions.
My approach to teaching emphasizes accessibility, adaptability, and student success. Drawing on my experiences as a first-generation, nontraditional, community-college transfer student and CSU graduate, I strive to make political science relevant, approachable, and intellectually engaging for students from a variety of backgrounds.
In my free time, you can find me walking my dog, exploring Anaheim and the greater Southern California area, or watching Marvel movies.
